Typical Dutch..

Hendrik Averkamp, one of the first landscape painters of the 17th-century Dutch school, was specialized in painting the Netherlands in winter. Avercamp's paintings are colorful and lively, with carefully crafted images of the people in the landscape. Many of Avercamp's paintings feature people ice skating on frozen lakes.
PLEASE CLICK the image for a closer look...In Holland many people skate..and we are about to have fun coming weekend doing so through a wonderful landscape..Typical Dutch! I am one of a few who can't skate...but I will be there ..watching the fun and enjoying myself...drinking some 'gluhwein' to keep away the cold..

Oh my goodness...do you know dearest, that the Dutch masters are my absolute favorites? I have a Veermeer (oops, spelling) in my kitchen? And the landscape you display here is exquisite. You have a wonderful heritage! Oh how I wish I could join you this weekend! I do skate, but I would sit this one out, just to sit near you and drink some magic elixer!!! Bisous ma chèrie, Anita

Dear Dutchess, thank you for Holiday on Ice link... I've been off in fairyland watching the numerous videos on Youtube! Ice Skating is my favorite event at each winter olympics as well. I do skate, but only on frozen ponds in winter.
