Winter Weekend

Its so cold.........

This weekend I'm staying inside..park my bike ...

leave a little light burning in the garden so you can find me..

And then we will sit by the fire....and listen to some music..

Have a wonderful weekend out there on the globe....stay warm and stay happy..

Too much of a good thing...

I'm HOME....and...I will stay there for a whole week....wow..this hasn't been happening to me for a long long time... So...I'm going to enjoy.. Enjoying the sounds of the birds when I wake up.. Enjoying the familiar noises my house makes in the still of the night..its an old house and sometimes it sighs..really it does.. Enjoying standing in my living room and just be THERE... Enjoying sitting at my desk and draw.. Enjoying making posts on my computer in stead of on my blackberry ..in Internet cafes..Ipads or laptops.. Enjoying cooking in my kitchen..while Miss Moussie visits..and so on and so forth.. Its a good thing and it can never ever be to much...

Wishing you wonderful things..and enjoy this song called home...

The translation of fog...

Our garden today loooks like something out of a fairytale...Fog and Frost made magic together...

Poetry is what gets lost in translation. ~Robert Frost

STOP..

And listen..that's Bach..
I remembered a story of how Bach was approached by a young admirer one day and asked, "But Papa Bach, how do you manage to think of all these new tunes?" "My dear fellow," Bach is said to have answered, according to my version, "I have no need to think of them. I have the greatest difficulty not to step on them when I get out of bed in the morning and start moving around my room." ~Laurens Van der Post

From my balcony...

A serenade to you....

May flowers always line your path and sunshine light your day.
May songbirds serenade you every step along the way.
May a rainbow run beside you in a sky that's always blue.
And may happiness fill your heart each day your whole life through.

As Notes...

Are we not formed, as notes of music are,
For one another, though dissimilar?
~Percy Bysshe Shelley

Art Childe Hassam~The Song>
On the playlist..Song to the Moon.
Translation lyrics

Silver moon upon the deep dark sky,
Through the vast night pierce your rays.
This sleeping world you wander by,
Smiling on man's homes and ways.
Oh moon ere past you glide, tell me,
Tell me, oh where does my loved one bide?
Oh moon ere past you glide, tell me
Tell me, oh where does my loved one bide?
Tell him, oh tell him, my silver moon,
Mine are the arms that shall hold him,
That between waking and sleeping he may
Think of the love that enfolds him,
May between waking and sleeping
Think of the love that enfolds him.
Light his path far away, light his path,
Tell him, oh tell him who does for him stay!
Human soul, should it dream of me, Let my memory wakened be.
Moon, moon, oh do not wane, do not wane,
Moon, oh moon, do not wane....

Madness

There is a system in this madness...

There are famous MADNESS scenes in opera's...Madness and opera go together like, well, madness in opera. And quite often the mad are women who have lost their senses, frequently over love. It's almost a cliché.
Woman in dispear, grieving, surching for revenge, killing out of love, giving you the chills and haunt you for ever...Opera composers have long been drawn to stories in which women go mad!
I selected a few....enjoy...and stay sane

Lucia di lammermoor.
Hamlet"Ophelia"
La traviata..addio del passato
Lucretia Borgia
Tosca...and please watch this one until the very end...phew!.....Happy weekend

Saudade

“What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.”

{"saudade" is a feeling that you have when someone you love is far away or lost. It's like missing something. 'I miss you 'would correspond in portuguese to : Tenho(have) "saudades" tuas(of you)}

The Unanswered Question

Its all about the music today, the music and a post about" Questions "from a lovely blog "Sometimes",wich you can find on the Kindred Spirit list. Please visit..
At this moment you are listening to music called "The Unanswered Question",from Charles Ives.I believe we all struggle with questions ,and how to find a place whithin yourself where you can find the answer...and then to find that the answer was always there...

About the music
The woodwinds are said to represent our human answers growing increasingly impatient and desperate, until they lose their meaning entirely. Meanwhile, right from the very beginning, the strings have been playing their own separate music, infinitely soft and slow and sustained, never changing, never growing louder or faster, never being affected in anyway by that strange question–and–answer dialogue of the trumpet and the woodwinds. The trumpet then asks "The Perennial Question of Existence",seven times.. and the woodwinds seek "The Invisible Answer", but abandon it in frustration, so that ultimately the question is answered only by the "Silences".
Its not easy to play ,and not easy to listen. Its one of my favorites, especially when i can hear it life in a concerthall.I love The Unanswered Question

Wishing you a beautiful sunday..enjoy
