Oh dear; I am not one to shy away from a challenge, but I have to say, after parent teacher conferences last week, I am a bit nervous to go in today after a parent told me she wasn't happy with how her son is doing in math....oh, I didn't venture out to be a "math" teacher; I am an educator who really is just an artist! Oh well, MONDAY, HERE I COME!
My dearest, most wonderful friend, I just saw your sweet message on my mini blog!!!! Oh, thank you for wishing me well. Again, another area where you and I have much in common. One day, I will have to "tell" you the story and struggle for me to get to where I am at. It was a struggle because like you, I have a "thing" with numbers that doesn't allow me to shine in this area. The fact that I teach math is almost a joke, but I like to think of it as a miracle....something to show me that I can do overcome...but you know my sweet, I would rather teach reading and writing and THEATRE, which I actually do in my reading curriculum. My papa used to get frustrated with me because I could not see the numbers. He was a genuis at music and to this day, I can read my music, but I take it into my soul and then get rid of the sheet music!!!
Your message has given me strength as I am on my lunch break, but in about 25 minutes, the math begins. I sweat every day that I teach it.
