Melodie of June..

My luve's like a red, red rose,
That's newly sprung in June;
Oh, my luve's like the melodie
That's sweetly played in tune”
- Robert Burns"

This is a wonderful French illustration ('Rose') by J. Grandville, (1847) , from a book entitled Les Fleurs Animees. Queen Rose rules....

The first roses are just coming into bloom in our garden this week - it is lovely to see them - now it really is summer:)

Oh dearest, this is the sweetest little queen, surrounded by what we native Californians call JUNE BUGS! We always knew it was June by the singing melody of these little or shall I say rather large bugs! But I was just a child when I used to see these things flying around at night during our many soirées in the garden. Oh, don't you just love this time of year! I see that you came by to see our British COWBOYS...Oh Tea will try anything once or even twice, even if he falls off his horse!! His horse's name is PUNCH. And I can't wait to get the invitation to the OPENING OF GUSTAVE'S RESTAURANT! I AM HUNGRY!!!!

Have a splendid day dear one, Anita
