Within the silent shade..

The Violet

Down in a green and shady bed,
A modest violet grew;
Its stalk was bent, it hung its head
As if to hide from view.
And yet it was a lovely flower,
Its colour bright and fair;
It might have graced a rosy bower,
Instead of hiding there.

Yet thus it was content to bloom,
In modest tints arrayed;
And there diffused a sweet perfume,
Within the silent shade.

Then let me to the valley go
This pretty flower to see;
That I may also learn to grow
In sweet humility.

Oh, our little violet, in all her humility sings silently to me, the beauty of sweet serenity...and that is what I have been enjoying the last several days. With our builder ready to go in several weeks, we are finally having the time to just enjoy the calm in perfect weather, before the actual heat of Minnesota sets in and all the noise and dust starts....and I think of you dearest, in that heat, hoping that all is well and that all the creatures of Hilltop are safe under the shade of your lovely lilac and loving care. THANK YOU FOR COMING TO SEE THE AUDITIONS! And Miss M. was quite impressed with Tea...even though he SNUCK IN, she thought his Groucho mask was quite amusing! MORE TO COME....Anita

I love this painter and the poem is great. The background music fits well
and as allways the athmosphere is beautiful. Thank you, greeting from Lilian

I loved all about this post.
I remember to see violets in my grandmothers farm (when I was a child). They were beatiful and had a wonderful perfume.

Good evening dearest Dutchess,

I just wanted to come by to say how much I appreciate you....I just visited a blog that was so moving....it was a dedication to a dear blogger that lost her life a couple of days ago in a car accident. Her husband wrote the most beautiful memory...I am thinking of all my dear kindred souls and I just wanted to say how much I care for you. You have always been a ray of sunshine to me...you know that. Have a safe and wonderful evening.....Anita
