One inch tall...

If you were only one inch tall, you'd ride a worm to school.
The teardrop of a crying ant would be your swimming pool.
A crumb of cake would be a feast
And last you seven days at least,
A flea would be a frightening beast
If you were one inch tall.

If you were only one inch tall, you'd walk beneath the door,
And it would take about a month to get down to the store.
A bit of fluff would be your bed,
You'd swing upon a spider's thread,
And wear a thimble on your head
If you were one inch tall.

You'd surf across the kitchen sink upon a stick of gum.
You couldn't hug your mama, you'd just have to hug her thumb.
You'd run from people's feet in fright,
To move a pen would take all night,
(This poem took fourteen years to write--
'Cause I'm just one inch tall).

One Inch Tall by Shel Silverstein

There are days where you can feel very small..I always dreamed how it would be to find shelter in a moussie's hug...
Its snowing again on the Hilltop.....

Big hug to all of you out there..have a wonderful winters day..stay warm and stay happy..

To be one inch tall... really quite on my mind lately as I regard my little kitty. He's just barely half a foot tall and gives so much joy, sleeps in a little basket on one of the blankets I received decades ago for my firstborn, hides under the sofa when he wants to feel extra safe, and sits on 3 inch thick window sills whenever he wants...
To be one inch tall...
Beautiful poem and illustrations.
Have a great day and enjoy the snow!

Now this is really something to think about... Much like Zoe my little toy poodle... Although she is 9 inches tall I am sure I look like a GIANT to her..

Such a beautiful illustration and poem..

Stay warm dear Dutchess.. We are having a summer day here...
Give Miss Moussie a hug!

Oh Shel Silverstein is my kinda man.....whimsical, silly, poetic and fun....and dearest, I was thinking of you yesterday. It is snowing chez toi? Not here...just cold. But soon it will be done. Valentines Day is coming and that will make 31 years that Ruben and I met. Then, our 29th anniversary in March, my bday in April and so on.....may our paths always meet at the crossroads of great friendship, Nita
