Naughty but nice..

There are Goblins on the Hilltop....so we better be alert..They can be very naughty..

For about a week now the mailman couldn't find my adress..wonder why...

They can also be very nice...There's one building a fire in my kitchen...its soooo cold in Hilltop Hall...could it be summer is over..so soon...?!
Whilst builing a fire this little Goblin friend is telling a story..listen..

"The Water-Goblin".
(Just to put it into context, these are some of the most famous lines in Czech poetry. Every Czech school child at the age of about ten will learn these lines by heart)

On a poplar by the pool
This Goblin sat at twilight cool:
'Glow, moon, glow,
That my thread may sew.

For myself new boots I'm sewing
, On dry land and water going:
Glow, moon, glow,
That my thread may sew.

'Thursday now—tomorrow's Friday—
sew a coat all trim and tidy:
Glow, moon, glow,
That my thread may sew.

Coat of green and boots of red
, For tomorrow I'll be wed:
Glow, moon, glow,
That my thread may sew.'

"It's a very well-known story which inspired a setting, most famously by Dvorak, about a water-goblin. You can always tell a "vodnik", a water-goblin, if you see him on dry land because he wears a green frock-coat and there's always a drop of water dripping from his left coat-tail.
I don't know if this little guy is a water goblin...I''ll ask him when we are having tea....and listen to Dvorak's music...have a wonderful weekend out there on the globe..

Oh my dearest,

Here I am, on this side of the GREAT OCEANS of dreams. There YOU are, on the other side. Dreams and GOblins, POEtry and Prose, all is sweet and tender as a dew-kissed rose. For from friendships and kindness does magic take flight, on the wings of the moon and stars ever bright...cold days, hot days, storms and draughts...we have had it all. A storm rushed in this morning and we heard a BIG THUD...our neighbor's patio umbrella crashed into our NEW WINDOW!!! We are having terrible heat again.....you out there in what appears to be the end of summer. It is an ENDLESS SUMMER CHEZ TOI MON AMIE.....Dvork's music says it all......thank you for your kind words and sweet visit....BISES, Nita

Dear Dutchess, I can always depend that your blog will have something magical to ponder or laugh at. This morning we had water goblins conjure up a nasty, though thankfully short, storm.

I think the good goblins came and shut the water off. Even they have had enough.

Your friend
Ruben

Hallo lieve Dutchess
What a nice story.
Ik heb de kachel aangedaan.
Ik kreeg het zo koud .....
Glow moon glow .

Glow moon glow ....
Sweet dreams
