Slumbering..

The trees are still asleep today
And do not seem to know
A storm came by last night and heaped
      Their branches full of snow.
See how they start up with surprise
As one by one they wake.
“Why, gracious me!” they seem to say,
                And give themselves a shake...

. Ralph Marcellino

..there is life in the undergrowth...and soon we will see...what was protected by a tree..we all need roots to grow...

Good morning sweetest zuster! Yes, the undergrowth is working hard and the roots of the trees are communicating one with the other and whispering, "Spring is coming!" The roots touch one another, their claw-like extremities, and they say, "Wake up! The humans are waiting to watch us cloth our branches with pink and white and green."

We don't have long to go now dearest, it is already February, and I ask, "Where did January go?"

Wat een enig plaatje. Zo lief en romantisch. Hoe vind je ze toch steeds. En het gedicht is ook al zo mooi.

Hi Duchess, I am imagining all the little roots and shoots underneath that frozen earth, soon they will be popping up to see the light! I just love that.
