Sad

A sad Sunflower at The hilltop today,is the end of Summer near....

If the first week in August is unusually warm,
the coming Winter will be snowy and long.
For every fog in August,
There will be a snowfall in Winter.
If a cold August follows a hot July,
It foretells a Winter hard and dry."

Good morning Duchess, I think I know how that Sunflower feels!
I wonder what it means if it just rains all July and August!!

I can imagine in my mind's eye fields of sunflowers as we would travel to visit family in Colorado. The state of Kansas is known as the Sunflower State because they grow so well there. Those yellow fields were really beautiful. Thanks for the memories! Cathy

I was wondering the same as Fern as we have had rain in July and August:(
Poor sunflower - it longs for the sun! Do you save the seed head to feed the birds?

Oh no, we've had a few fogs in our August but I don't think that rhyme works in Texas!

Dear Dutchess...I hope you do not mind that I have borrowed your violet bouquet for a special little girl today.
Maybe I can send you some sunflower seeds of a beautiful red leaved sunflower my friend grows by the marshes of Cape Cod...
